Collective Grief

Princess Diana charmed the world. On August 31st, 24 years ago, she died a tragic and unforeseen death. Most of us remember exactly where we were when we heard the news. We were in shock. We cried. We mourned. We created memorials. She was a remarkable humanitarian and her loss hit many hard. This is collective grief.

The world is again experiencing major collective grief. With the myriad losses from Covid (loved ones, jobs, human interaction, weddings, funerals, etc.) and our vision of American democracy, to the loss from war and natural disasters, we are facing unprecedented loss.

We feel out of control and powerless. It can be overwhelming.

So what can you do to heal your heart and take care of self?

🙏 1) Find the gratitude in any situation. Sit with it long enough and you can find a spark of joy.

🌎 2) Volunteer. There really is truth in the think global, act local approach to life. Lend a helping hand to a cause, person and/or animal. There is so much in the world that needs you right now.

🦋 3) Practice Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping. You can find local practitioners (mine is listed on my Resources page) or free resources online to get started. A really good practitioner can guide you right out of trauma thinking…although it may take a few sessions.

🕊 4) Create a spiritual practice. There is so much available in this category. A few suggestions are yoga, breath work, journaling, and meditation. You can also attend Sunday services and donate to your church. Being with likeminded people is tremendous support.

🎨 5) Grab some art supplies and create. That is what we are here to do. Be a co-creator with the Universe. So many modalities, so little time.
